Those Bits Aren’t Free: Netflix Could Be Racking... →
infoneer-pulse: Investors are cheering on Netflix as it moves from DVDs to streaming video, and keeps adding customers along the way. But “digital” doesn’t equal “cheap” for Reed Hastings’ company. In fact, the online move has cost Netflix at least $1.2 billion. That’s the amount the Netflix has committed to paying Hollywood studios for the rights to stream their movies and TV shows. And it’s...

Mark Birch. Strong Opinions.: What Not to Focus On →
marksbirch: When launching your start-up, there are a ton of things that are critical. You have to build the product, identify the market and customers, pitch investors, build the team, etc. Not all things are of equal importance though, and some things are just flat out time sinks. How Google TV Could Hand Netflix the entire... →
This article certainly makes me long Netflix. I had no idea they are willing to pay per subscriber just like the TV providers do. If that is in fact true, then content providers (like FOX) should be just as happy to stream their shows on Netflix as they are distributing via cable companies. Wouldn’t they then also demand the same retransmission fees from Hulu?

BRYCE DOT VC: Does Price Matter? →
brycedotvc: While skimming through my twitter stream I came a across a quote from the BizTech conference this morning attributed to Naval Ravikant which said “VCs doing seed deals are price insensitive”. This seems to be a common refrain these days in startup land. I think Ron Conway put it most… While I agree with your post generally, at the margin I think VC insensitivity is still...

What should I serve with fried catfish?
marilynhack: caterpillarcowboy: I’m frying up catfish strips after dredging them in flour, cornmeal, and cajun seasoning. I always like to have a well-balanced meal, so what else should I serve with it? Fried catfish is wonderful atop some creamy grits (with cheddar, if you have some good cheddar in hand) and asparagus. If it’s not asparagus season- try collards, string beans, broccoli or...

My favorite places to eat in Seattle
Made this list for Loren, based on my time there from 2006 to 2008. Would love to hear from people about what’s new and what’s changed since 2008. 1. Quiche at Le Pichet on 1st ave and virginia. They make a different kind every day, and only start serving it at 11am. It’s usually sold out by noon. Their fresh squeezed OJ is also delicious. 2. Peking Duck sandwiches at Wild...

Share your location on GroupMe
groupme: If, like many of our users, you’re on Foursquare, it’s easy to share your location with your friends on GroupMe. From any location page on your Android or iPhone Foursquare app, just press “Share”, then “by text message”. Foursquare creates a new text message with the name and address of your location, and all you have to do is send it to your GroupMe. It’s that easy. Try it out next...
