I'm speaking out against Keurig coffee.
anniehinton: And what I’m saying is, it’s gross. Quote me on that. Everyone should be trying CraftCoffee. Coffee that is pre-ground and sitting in small plastic pods for months is guaranteed gross.

emotionalcreativity: Just realized that this is the end of the first month blogging. I like the practice of forming and putting down thoughts everyday. Maybe this is my dog. Congrats. Now you just need to enable replies so I don’t have to spam all my followers with messages like this one. (NB — so glad Tumblr realized that reblogging wasn’t the perfect evolution of internet...

Foursquare product request
viiv: khuyi: Taking a cab to wok this morning because I didn’t pick a good breakfast venue for my commute. Foursquare product request: ability to limit explore feature to places within 1/4 mile of a certain subway stop. In general - hoping foursquare continues to build out metadata - business hours, wireless or not, cash only or not, etc. there are a number of apps that build variations...

Those Greedy, Good Fer Nothin', Freeloading VCs
marksbirch: brycedotvc: JWZ had some choice words for VCs the other day: When a VC tells you what’s good for you, check your wallet, then count your fingers. I did make a bunch of money by winning the Netscape Startup Lottery, it’s true. So did most of the early engineers. But the people who made 100x as much as the engineers did? I can tell you for a fact that none of them slept under their...

– Is Siri Pro Life? Apparently Yes. (via robot-heart-politics) How and why is this news? Apple has no obligation to make everything under the sun available via Siri. It’s a program, not the concierge desk at the Plaza Hotel. (via section9) But as a program, I don’t feel there should be any bias. ...

– New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg Just loved this quote when I saw it. (via siminoff) YES. I hate it when republicans claim taxes kill businesses. Making things people don’t want kills businesses. Everything else is margin.

YouTube's Monetization Gap with Hulu - via Digiday →
fredericguarino: When it comes to sheer revenue, YouTube is blowing the doors off of Hulu. Analysts peg YouTube’s 2011 haul at anywhere between $1.2 billion and $1.6 billion, while Hulu has said it expects to pull in $500 million this year — a number that includes revenue from its subscription service Hulu Plus. Chart:RPUU...

brycedotvc: A few months back a founder came to me with a question that had been weighing heavy on his mind- should he quit? Months prior to stepping into my office he had kicked off a new startup. Paul Motian, Legendary Jazz Drummer, Has Passed... →
marksbirch: Just saw this now. Paul Motion was one of the greats of jazz and a hugely influential drummer. If you do not know him, was played for bandleaders such as Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. Oh wow! I was lucky enough to see him play at the Village Vanguard earlier this year with Ethan Iverson (from The Bad Plus) and Jack DeJohnette (from the Brad Mehldau Trio). What a loss.

Congrats to Chris Dixon and co for selling their team + product for such a high price. At an estimated 2X return for Series B investors Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, and Bessemer Venture Partners, it’s a huge disappointment for them after 18 months but a great win for the founders. IMO, selling team + product for $80M is a testament to how “insidery” startups can...

Eric Ries supports the theory that Silicon Valley is mostly white men because investors are mostly white men and looking for “people like them”, not because they are overtly racist, but pattern matching with unconscious bias.
