More Ridiculously Annoying Startup Memes
marksbirch: I read the tech press not for information, but for comic relief.  In fact, they should use Comic Sans font on their blogs just to emphasize the point.  The sheer inanity of it all led me to post last month the top ten most annoying memes in the startup scene, but I clearly could have gone on.  Just in the past few weeks, we had Paul Graham going West Coast gangsta calling out the...

jryu: shortformblog: $713.4 million the amount Groupon originally stated as its 2010 revenues $312.9 million the amount the company changed that to today … damn source » How does one misstate $400 million in revenues? My dual citizenship on Tumblr
bijan: The more I spend time on tumblr and pay attention to my own interactions, the more they are in sync with the data & metrics we see in the boardroom and on quantcast. The vast majority of interaction and engagement happens in the Tumblr feed which is called the Tumblr Dashboard. This behavior started to develop early last year and then only accelerated. Essentially, logged in users...

mar-see-ah: Keeps the branding consistent, isn’t dumb, and everyone would understand the distinction. Pretty sure they want to kill the DVD business. Turns out storing things in warehouses and putting them into envelopes is expensive. They just need the business to survive long enough to support the transition to a streaming only company. That said, I love the name MailFlix.

So here is what I think happened with Netflix’s recent price change (for the record, I have no inside data here, this is just an educated guess). Netflix has for the past several years been negotiating with Hollywood for the digital rights to stream movies and TV series as a single price subscription to users. Their first few deals were simply $X million dollars for one year of rights to stream...
