    “Band nerd”

I believe the correct term is “band geeks.” or my favorite, “the dorkestra.”

[and FYI, I was trombone for like 6 months, so I kinda qualified]

Maybe this is a regional thing? Where I grew up everyone called it “band nerd.” But apparently in some places, it’s called “band geek.” I’ve had some people really hassle me over this. Also, instead of dorkestra, I’ve heard it called “orch dork.” (We didn’t have orchestra, so I can’t really speak to that.)

I think they (i.e., someone other than me) should do a map for this like they did the pop vs. soda debate. What do you call it?

Definitely band geek. And yeah, that was me, President of the Cornell Wind Bands and President of the Cornell Jazz Ensembles. Alto / tenor / bari sax, whatever you need (and alto flute for one concert. Ugh, that was tough).
