Twitter has some very interesting plans for its newly-unveiled live search function: soon it will activate crawlers that will index the links users include in their Tweets. In one fell swoop that turns Twitter into an even more powerful news and opinion aggregator. Look and learn, Google.
Twitter search as aggregator - that’s an enormous problem they are biting off. It could be huge if they do it well, but no one has been able to do reputation + filtering well (and imagine if they tried to throw in natural language processing). Businesses would definitely pay for this.
So when is Tumblr’s version of this coming out?
