Why’d Peter Goodman leave the Times?

    Goodman:

“For me it’s a chance to write with a point of view. It’s sort of the age of the columnist. With the dysfunctional political system, old conventional notions of fairness make it hard to tell readers directly what’s going on.”

The suppression of opinions continues to fade away.

The reason I’ve always loved reading TechCrunch is that it’s opinionated.  MG clearly loves most things Apple and detests ALL things Comcast and AT&T.  I happen to agree with those sentiments 100% and the beauty of TechCrunch is that I get an opportunity to agree/disagree because the authors actually express their views.  Articles are not written as in neutral tone.  They’re opinionated, often to the point of name calling, and that’s just fine.  I’ve always believed it’s better to stand for something and have some people love you and others hate you than to try and be all things to all people.

Trevor, the counter argument is basically Fox News - an organization pushing propaganda to an audience that takes it as fact and chooses not to see both sides. “Fair and Balanced” is a joke.

There is a reason why NY Times’ slogan is “All the news that’s fit to print”…
