Not intending this to be a rant or whine…
So I posted this exact link yesterday, and yet this particular post has 45 reblogs/likes while mine had 1. Which goes to show one of the biggest weaknesses* of social media, IMHO: you could be the first to report that cancer has been cured, but if the right people don’t pick up on it at the right time, nobody will ever know. Thankfully, we have Google, so your post won’t go unnoticed forever, but as a news construct, there is something inherently inefficient.
*The second biggest weakness of the asymmetrical follow model is that people will naturally create echo chambers, and exclude contrarian voices, creating increasingly polarized communities. Bye bye balanced criticisms. If you don’t like what someone is saying, you stop following them. It’s Fox News all the time now, baby.
