You really know that a guy is doing it right on the internet when his recommendations are so valuable that you’ll just buy into them without even blinking an eye. Too many times, I’ve seen internet luminaries eat up their own credibility by constantly hawking their friends’ stuff, only that stuff kinda sucks. I get all the trading of publicity… you give and you take, and the hope is that you both reap benefits. But the more and more you keep plugging, the recommendations and advertising looks cheap.
Merlin could probably sell me on a new toilet seat if he thought it was that great. I don’t remember him plugging anyone’s stuff in the time that I’ve followed him on tumblr and twitter, so I’m pretty sure this is going to be good. Merlin gets it.
If you are involving with software development at the corporate size, you should definitely read Rands’ blog and book.
